Architects Series | book cover design
I was challenged to design three book covers for three architects with distinct styles that could exist as a series. The grid that spans the covers from front to back was inspired by architectural drawings and the grid paper they are created on. I then layered shape forms on the grids that represented each architect's style. I chose a mid-tone color scheme that was bright enough to grab attention, but neutral enough that many more colors could be added to the series. Finally, I incorporated both horizontal and vertical text to add visual interest and connect with the grid.
Richard Neutra had a modern style, which is very minimalistic and geometric. I used rectangles and squares to represent this style.

Frank Gehry has a deconstructivist style, which is notable for its lack of symmetry and continuity. I used non-rectilinear forms that mimicked some of Gehry's designs to represent this style.

Louis Sullivan had an art nouveau style, which was organic, flowing, and based on natural forms. I used circles and ovals to represent this style.
