In the fall of 2021, I worked as a studio designer alongside four other designers as a member of Scout, Northeastern University's student-led design studio. We designed a brand identity for the financial technology start-up Cashflo and created a high-fidelity app prototype.
Cashflo's goal was to create a mobile solution for the unbanked and underbanked populations, who don't have access to financial services and are therefore prevented from taking part in e-commerce. This product allows users to convert cash into digital money at any partner point-of-sale location, and then send that money to any number of connected accounts. My team and I helped Cashflo clarify their idea, identify user needs, come up with a strong brand name, and create a functional MVP that could be used to fundraise, test with users, and continue to grow the product.

While developing Cashflo's brand, we aimed to create a visual identity that was innovative, but still inspired trust. Our design strategy utilizes the highly legible, geometric typeface Nimbus Sans typeface, a bold yet credible 'dark mode' color palette, and a set of icons and illustrations that provide users with visual feedback and instruction.

We began designing the interface by creating a site map and a set of low-fidelity wireframes, which helped us determine how to structure Cashflo's content and arrange it in a way that was intuitive to navigate.

Once the low-fidelity wireframes were finalized, we incorporated the color palette, icons, and illustrations from our design strategy to create high-fidelity wireframes. After receiving multiple rounds of feedback and iterating on our high-fidelity designs, we developed a functional prototype from the final wireframes that the Cashflo team could use to walk interested parties through the app experience.
